Role Description The Assistant Accountant role at Zamsell Uganda is a full-time, on-site position based in Kampala. The role involves supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, and assisting with accounts payable and receivable. The Assistant Accountant will help prepare financial reports, reconcile bank statements, and ensure accurate documentation of all financial records. The role also includes assisting with budgeting, supporting audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. The individual is expected to work closely with the finance team to improve efficiency and maintain organized financial systems.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel for financial data analysis.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and reconciliation of accounts.
- Effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site environment and maintain professional conduct.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in an accounting or finance support role, particularly in retail or e-commerce, is an added advantage.
